This policy explains what personal data Career Radar collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it.

01Who we are

Career Radar ("we", "us") is a mobile app that helps UK students find and track spring weeks, internships, placements and graduate schemes, with live data on how competitive each opportunity is.

02Data we collect

We collect the following personal data:

Account information — your name and email address, provided when you sign in with Apple or Google, along with a unique account identifier.
Activity data — the listings you view and the listings you mark as applied to. This powers the competitiveness data (view and apply counts) shown across the app.
Waitlist information — if you join our waitlist on our website, we collect the email address you provide.
Technical data — when you use the app or website, our providers (see below) automatically process a limited amount of technical data, such as your IP address and access timestamps, to run the service and keep it secure. We do not use this to build a profile of you.

03How we use your data

We use your data to:

Create and manage your account and let you sign in.
Show you relevant opportunities and let you track the ones you're interested in.
Calculate and display competitiveness data — the aggregated view and apply counts for each listing.
Keep the service secure, fix problems and improve how the app works.
Contact you about the waitlist or launch, where you've asked us to.

Under UK data protection law, our legal bases are: performance of a contract (providing the app you signed up for), legitimate interests (producing competitiveness data, improving and securing the service), and consent (waitlist and launch updates, which you can withdraw at any time).

04Competitiveness data

The view and apply counts shown on each listing are aggregated — they are combined totals across all users and do not identify you or reveal your individual activity to anyone else.

05Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers that help us run the app:

Google Firebase (Firestore, Authentication and Hosting) stores and processes your account and activity data on our behalf. Our data is stored in Google's London region (europe-west2).
Apple and Google provide the sign-in service when you choose to log in with those accounts.
Expo delivers over-the-air updates to the app. When the app checks for an update it sends limited technical data, such as your IP address, to Expo.

These providers may transfer data outside the UK. Where that happens, it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as the UK's international data transfer provisions.

06How long we keep it

We keep your account and activity data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data from our records, except anything we are legally required to keep. You can delete your account at any time from within the app.

07Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you.
Correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete.
Delete your data (you can delete your account directly in the app).
Restrict or object to how we use your data.
Receive a copy of your data in a portable format.
Withdraw consent where we rely on it.

08Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including authenticated access controls and encrypted connections. No system is completely secure, but we work to keep your data safe.

09Children

Career Radar is intended for university students and others aged 16 or over. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

10Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "last updated" date above, and significant changes will be communicated in the app or by email where appropriate.
